The Horticultural Foundation of Pakistan will organise a national seminar on "Streamlining the production and export of cut-flowers and house-plants" here from March 2-4. The participants of the seminar being held at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) would discuss various issues and find out ways and means to boost the export of these commodities and to gain foothold in the world market.

Holland, relatively a small country is earning five billion dollars annually from the export of bulbs and cut flowers. Kenya, Columbia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka are also in hot-pursuit.

Pakistan has all the ingredients to be successful in the production of quality roses, gladiolus, carnations, chrysanthemum and house and foliage plants. However, their production and export need to be modernised to meet the international standards. The seminar would provide opportunities to work out strategies to attain these objectives.
